AI Is Only as Good as the Data Behind It. Five Questions to Tell If Yours Is Ready
AI only works as well as the data underneath it, and it will state a wrong number with the same confidence as a right one. Sam argues that banks and credit unions should check that their data is traceable and consistently defined before pointing an AI at it, and gives five questions to ask first: can you trace a number back to its source, do your key terms mean the same thing everywhere, where would a problem get caught, do you know what a change will break before you make it, and is sensitive data controlled as it moves. His point: these are one problem in five places, a gap between where data lives and where decisions get made.
